UST Weekend

The first stop of the United Skimboard Tour (UST) went down this past weekend in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico on Lover's Beach. Cabo is located on the southern tip of the Baja California peninsula and a lot of the pro riders made the trip. Here's a few pics from the weekend...

The trip started with Scooter 'storyeller' Hayes premiere of his movie "LAGOONIES" in Wilmington, NC. The movie is about his 3 year stay in Laguna Beach, CA, where he was the head of the shipping department at Victoria Skimboards. Just one word: HILARIOUS.
Not only funny, but also good quality of image, really good clips...
The video by itself is 30 min long, but there's a lot of "bonus".
Everybody in the theatre were laughing hard for about an hour long.
We cannot wait for the Premiere in Laguna.
Scooter also ended WINNING the contest in his category "master".
SO... Congratulation to Scooter for both his video and his performance.
The conditions were NOT the best to skimboard (small wave and strong wind) but everybody did their best to keep the good show on the beach.
Concerning me (Matthieu), I kind of expecting it... But my heel (that I hurt pretty bad at Aliso a week ago) didn't hold for the contest. The pain was really present and did not allow me to skim good enough to pass :(
Now I have 2 weeks to take it easy and recover for next contest.
However the week end was A LOT of fun!!!

Cabo Contest 2008

Greetings everyone from the Victoria Skimboards crew in Cabo San Lucas. So far the trip has been a good one with some solid surf at Solmar. The contest has been pushed back to Saturday and Sunday instead of Friday and Saturday. The reason for this is the swell is moving in on Saturday so we are all keeping our fingers crossed for some solid waves. Till then, here is a quick shot of Koty killing one of the Solmar waves in some warmer than not water.

Cabo VS North Carolina Contest

Most of the team riders are in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico (or on their way) this week end for the first UST contest of the season. Also the Heads of Victoria Skimboards will be there.
I (Matthieu) am flying tomorrow morning for the third skim USA contest of the season in North Carolina. Friday night: "Lagunies" video premiere (Scooter Hayes' video of his stay in Laguna Beach, CA)

Cabo Contest

Hey, it's Jon Howell. I'm leaving Florida on the 14th and arrive in Mexico for the Cabo Classico. I'm super stoked and can't wait for the trip. It'll be my first visit to Mexico and not my last. We haven't had many waves here in Naples for the past couple weeks. Some knee high swell so it'll be nice to get some real waves...
